Bio
The Smiling Islanders formed in August 2014 as the brainchild of David Gray, Ben Laderberg, Tim Swartz, and Wesley Bonelli. The quartet met as students in Charlottesville and soon discovered a shared passion for live performance. Their music is an eclectic mix of genres, drawing inspiration from classic rock, jam, funk and modern indie. After cutting their teeth playing campus events and local bars, the group took steps outward and began performing across central Virginia. In April 2015 they released their debut EP, titled Candelabra. They continue to perform in central Virginia and beyond.
